Validation of Assessment tools

Validation involves checking the Assessment Tools and the RPL process, ensuring valid, reliable, sufficient, current and authentic evidence is produced. We review and make recommendations for improvements to the assessment process as required.

Assessment Tools are validated according to the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence as per Clause 1.8 of the Standards for RTOs 2015.

Pre-Assessment Validation

Pre-Validation occurs prior to assessment to ensure the assessment tool meets the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence.

The results of the validation process include recommendations for improvement, where applicable the RTO implements changes.

To maintain professional distance and integrity, QMS Consulting uses independent validators, not involved in the delivery and assessment.

Our Validators are appropriately skilled and qualified:

  • appropriate vocational competencies;
  • current industry skills and knowledge;
  • an appropriate Training and Assessment Qualification or Assessor Skillset; and
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational teaching and learning.

Post-Assessment Validation

Post-Assessment Validation is a review of the assessment judgements. The process is undertaken systematically, the RTO will randomly select a sample of the assessment tools and evidence.

Validators compare the assessment results to determine whether the judgement decision made by Assessors are based on sound assessment practices after consideration of evidence against the relevant requirements meeting the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence.
